Support Election Reform

While most agree that the 2008 election went smoothly in Minnesota, the Senate recount has provided an opportunity to further examine our election system and identify areas that are in need of reform.  The most glaring issue is the 12,000 rejected absentee ballots, some of which were properly and some improperly rejected. The high level of error in voting absentee demonstrates that the requirements are simply too complex and hinder, rather than facilitate, voting.

Call on legislators to improve the voting process by:
- Creating a early voting process that would allow people to vote at a time more convenient for them;
- No Excuse Mail-in Voting would allow any individual to vote by mail without the need for an excuse, as is currently required for those voting absentee in Minnesota.
- Establish a 21st century voter registration system that would simplify the voter registration process, reduce the potential for typographical errors, and save local governments money.

Subject: Make Voting Easier and More Convenient

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Minnesota has a good election system, but the 2008 election showed that we need to make it better. For voters, the process can often be confusing and difficult to navigate. The high level of error in voting absentee demonstrates that the requirements are simply too complex and hinder, rather than facilitate, voting.

I urge you to support election reform to improve Minnesota's election system, these reforms include early voting, modernizing our voter registration system, and allows for no-excuse mail-in voting.

Minnesota has a good election system because we have always worked to make sure that every eligible voter that wants to vote is able to vote. I urge you to make sure that we turn this good election system into a great system.

Sincerely,
