NPT Jobs: Time to "GET
GREEN"
My motto has always
been one of preparedness, “the more skills you possess the
better your chances of working”, especially in a difficult
economy. That is why the current trend toward the
“green” is very exciting. As the economy contracts
and jobs are lost, unemployed workers are rushing to get
training specifically in courses for "green" jobs.
Perhaps the increase is
due to the federal stimulus package that sets aside tens of
billions of dollars to promote renewable energy and energy
efficiency. We could be on the cusp of a new need for workers
with “green” training.

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a profound
difference in the lives of thousands of children and their

strategic values of BGV and be passionate about promoting
behavioral health care change through the empowerment of these
children and adolescents and their families. The position calls
for a strategic thinker with experience in building and leading
teams to produce extraordinary results. S/he must have a track
record of accomplishment in similar publicly/privately funded
agencies or organizations and the capacity to lead in a period

Students are signing up
to learn how to do everything from installing solar panels to
producing bio-fuels and studying renewable energy sources. This
burgeoning new field has community colleges struggling to meet
the demand. The two-year schools will use money from the federal
stimulus package to add this “green” training and
retrain the unemployed. The new courses have become so popular
that some have long waiting lists to sign up for the
classes.
Reports show that the
renewable energy industry is trending upward generating over $1
trillion in revenue. With the government promoting bio-fuel and
clean energy initiatives, it does look like a great time to
“get green.”
Call your local
community college to see what courses they offer and check with
your own unemployment office to find out if there is money
available for retraining. You might find that the only cost to
you is your time.
There is no salary that can make up for the
satisfaction brought to those who serve others and who are
happily engaged in working for a good cause. The benefits of
this type of work can be extraordinary. If you are the type of
person who wants to be happy, there are hundreds of great causes
that could use your help. You can craft a career that will bring
you great happiness. The journey can begin by understanding
yourself and then finding a cause that suits you. Good luck and
happy hunting.
