Virtual Day on the Hill
Thanks for joining us for Team MAPE Virtual Day on the Hill! Please use this letter to contact your legislators.
Facing a $5.2 billion deficit, likely to grow to nearly $7 billion, we must minimize the damage the budget situation will cause us as state employees. Simply put, MAPE opposes the elimination of state jobs.
Use this email to tell legislators about the important work you do as a state employee.

Subject: I am a proud MAPE member
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
I am a proud member of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees.
The work we do for the state is vitally important, particularly in times like this. We as MAPE members help unemployed Minnesotans find jobs. We help people go back to school. We collect revenues for the state through unpaid taxes, fees and unemployment insurance. This is exactly the wrong time to cut these vital services.
We as MAPE members oppose any legislation that aims to take away our rights to collectively bargain. This includes legislation to institute a pay freeze, reduce retirement benefits or open up our health insurance pool to other groups that bargain at different times and pass additional costs onto current members.
MAPE opposes out-sourcing and contracting out of state services. Privatization has not been proven to save state revenues and often eliminates Minnesota jobs. Our state should focus its focus on creating jobs for Minnesotans not, not profits for corporations.
We do recognize the seriousness of the situation we face. We are willing to work together to find a consensus solution. But the place for many of these discussions is at the negotiations table, not the Capitol.
Sincerely,
|
