1. Take action Now to support Lt. Watada during his pre-trial hearing. Send letters or call Lt. Watada's commanding officer. Urge him to:

2. Plan to attend the Jan. 4th support rally and help spread the word. Forward this email and post on blogs, MySpace, student, activist, social justice and media websites. Coming soon to www.thankyoult.org - flyer downloads!Print and post flyers all over town or hand them out at events and to friends. 

3. Volunteer to help build the Northwest Watada support campaign. We need help with research, transportation, events, petition gathering, postering and flyering. Email volunteer@ltwatada.org to volunteer.

4. Organize your community. Hold a local event in support of Lt. Watada. Help build awareness and mobilize for Feb. 5, 2007. Organize a student walkout on Feb. 5 and join us to rally at Fort Lewis. Please tell us about your event or student walkout action@ltwadata.org.   

5. Sign the petition to support Lt. Watada and register for campaign updates. Go to www.thankyoult.org for more information.

As a supporter of Lt. Watada who lives in the Northwest, we especially encourage you to attend the upcoming rally this Thursday, January 4th.

Join Lt. Watada's other supporters including military families, veterans, youth and students, people of color, workers, religious communities and activists to rally at the gates of Ft. Lewis for a peaceful non-violent demonstration.

We are excited to welcome several members of Iraq Vets Against the War who will arrive in the Northwest just in time for Lt. Watada's pre-trial hearing. This group of IVAW members has been traveling the country talking to students about military recruiters and educating the public about the realities of the war. They have begun passing out holiday gift baskets to GIs. If you are interested in supporting IVAW's efforts locally, please contact volunteer@ltwatada.org.
