Assemblymember Richard Gottfried (D-Manhattan) and Senator Nicholas Spano (R-Westchester) have introduced the Healthy Teens Act in the New YorkState Legislature.
This legislation will make resources available to fund age-appropriate, medically accurate sex education in New YorkState. School districts, BOCES, school-based health centers and community-based organizations would be able to apply for grants to develop and implement programs that provide students with real sex education.
New York State currently has no designated funding stream for comprehensive sex education in schools.
