I hope everybody had a great 2007 and looks forward to a fabulous 2008! It will be very interesting to watch as the technology landscape continues to evolve and change.
I will be closely following Drupal's continued development. Drupal 6 is in release candidate status--which means it will be in final release soon and Drupal 7 development has begun.
What technology trends will you be following in 2008?
Best,
Matthew. ------------------ http://www.dogstar.org Imagespace--NonProfits and Web 2.0

Happy New Year everyone.
I will definitely be following the development of Open Social, which is a set of open APIs for social platforms. There's been a move towards having open platforms--i.e. so you can add applications and move data in and out of different social networking sites, such as Facebook, Plaxo, LinkedIn, etc. I'm curious to see how this will play out--and hopeful that it will move imore and more in the direction of open standards and open platforms.

I'm watching WIMAX.
Always on, higher speeds, larger footprints etc. will make for an exciting increase in available bandwidth and speed.
Current Wimax installs are increasing access and bringing more and more people online and providing a rewarding high-speed online experience. Estimates show an increase of 1 billion additional users online over the next 3-5 years.
We're just getting started!

I'm looking at ultraMobile PCs (UMPC) like the Flip-Start, and OQO. They're not much bigger than my PalmTX, but have a full PC operating system (and price). At home they can be docked to a full size keyboard, mouse and screen, then undock and take anywhere. I think there will soon be more options and lower prices.
