The short explanation of this alert was:

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) recently came close to downlisting manatees from "endangered" to "threatened" status at the state level. Fortunately, a letter from Governor Charlie Crist convinced them to postpone the decision. However, they could still choose to downlist the manatee at some point in the near future. Please "Take Action" to urge FWC Commission Chairman Rodney Barre to oppose downlisting of the manatee.
