The short explanation of this alert was:

Recently, the San Diego City Council unanimously passed a resolution calling on people to boycott foie gras, which is produced by force-feeding ducks until their livers become enlarged and diseased. However, Mayor Jerry Sanders has so far declined to sign it. Please Take Action to urge the Mayor to join the Council members and his many constituents who care about animals by signing this resolution.
