We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit IDA's Action Center.

The short explanation of this alert was:

The National Park Service (NPS) is advancing a plan to shoot and exterminate the Fallow and Spotted Axis deer at the Point Reyes National Seashore, simply because they are not native to the area.  The park has failed, however, to show any scientific evidence that the exotic deer are having a negative impact on the environment or other species in the park. As there is no crisis, the park has the option of implementing a humane management program using wildlife contraception. Please help IDA stop the NPS from shooting the exotic deer.
