We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.
The short explanation of this alert was:
This fall marks the five-year anniversary of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), a comprehensive plan to dramatically reduce global poverty. From September 14-16, world leaders gathered at the UN Summit to measure their progress toward meeting these goals and reaffirm their commitment to development.
As a result of persistent pressure from concerned citizens and poverty-fighting organizations, President Bush publicly declared for the first time: "We are committed to the Millennium Development Goals."
These are encouraging words that demand real actions. Tell President Bush to develop a concrete plan for the MDGs.
