We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit IDA's Action Center.

The short explanation of this alert was:

The Alaska Zoo Board of Directors may decide as soon as next week what to do about Maggie, a lone elephant who has recently been found -- twice -- prone and unable to stand back up on her own. After these incidents, IDA released a 2004 Alaska Zoo Board report in which officials acknowledge that the Zoo could not properly care for an elephant. Please "Take Action" to urge the Zoo Board to send Maggie to a sanctuary that will provide her with a better quality of life than any zoo ever could.

Also, please tell a friend about this issue and donate to IDA so that we can continue our important work for animals.
