The short explanation of this alert was:

The Bush administration, against enormous popular opposition, recently approved a plan to allow the sale of new drilling rights to corporations off the coast of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Development in this pristine habitat would threaten the survival of numerous animals, from polar and grizzly bears, wolves and caribou to migratory whales and more than 130 species of birds. Please "Take Action" to urge your congressional Representative to protect the ANWR by supporting the Udall-Eisenhower Arctic Wilderness Act (H.R. 39).

Please also urge friends and family to take action on this important issue.
