Ask New York City Legislators to Ban Foie Gras

New York Councilmember Tony Avella has recently introduced a resolution to the New York City Council that would ban the sale of foie gras in New York City. Nearly 500,000 ducks and geese are tortured each year in the United States to produce the gourmet “delicacy” foie gras.
This doesn’t include the countless birds who die excruciating deaths from lacerations to their throats, internal bleeding, stomachs literally exploding, or being brutalized just for “fun” by merciless farm employees.
There is absolutely nothing humane about the production of foie gras!
To date, Denmark, Switzerland, the U.K., Germany, Israel (once the 4^th largest producer of foie gras), Finland, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic have banned force-feeding ducks and geese for foie gras.
And in our own country, California has signed a bill into law that will ban the production and sale of foie gras by 2012.
