The short explanation of this alert was:

A provision buried in the current Farm Bill being considered by Congress could overturn existing state and local laws to protect animals, and prevent any more from being passed. If the provision is approved, state bans on foie gras, gestation and veal crates, and horse slaughter could all automatically become null and void. Please "Take Action" to tell your federal Representative and Senators to preserve states' rights to make animal protection laws that are commensurate with their specific community standards.
