The short explanation of this alert was:

In our eNews last month, we reported that beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet were in danger of extinction, and asked our readers to urge the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to list the species as "endangered" under the federal Endangered Species Act. We are pleased to report that they did! Please "Take Action" to thank the NMFS for giving these marine mammals the protection they need to recover.
