Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit IDA's Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: Last week, the Alaska Zoo board of directors announced it would not make its final decision on a new home for Maggie, an ailing African elephant, until its next meeting on August 8th. This means that Maggie will probably not be relocated this summer to a facility with the space, conditions, and resources to care for her properly, increasing the likelihood that she will spend yet another long winter locked in her cell at the Alaska Zoo. By delaying its decision, the Zoo board is issuing Maggie a death sentence. Please "Take Action" and write to the Alaska Zoo board of directors and tell them it's urgent that a decision is made now to send Maggie to an accredited sanctuary which can provide the space and natural conditions that she needs to thrive. Please also urge friends and family to take action on this important issue. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
