The short explanation of this alert was:
If you've seen the acclaimed documentary "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill: A Love Story...With Wings," then you know about the life, loves and complex relationships these amazing birds share with one another and their friendship with adoring caretaker Mark Bittner. Sadly, an absentee North Beach landowner recently cut down the third of five cypress trees that comprise a key part of the parrots' habitat, and now wants to remove the remaining two. Bittner has observed the flock of over 200 birds for more than a decade. With the trees gone, they will no longer have a secure perch from which to watch for hawks before swooping down to feed from his hand, endangering their safety and closing off an important connection with their caretaker. Please click "Send This Message" now to preserve the remaining cypress trees so that the wild parrots can remain on Telegraph Hill.
