The U.S. Forest Service's recently released draft alternatives offer four different options for managing the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire and Maine over the next 10-15 years. While these alternatives propose protecting additional Wilderness areas, they need to be strengthened to better protect roadless areas not proposed for wilderness, to provide stronger protection for areas such as the Wild River Valley and Sandwich Notch, and to prohibit all-terrain vehicles on the forest. Your personalized comments are carefully considered by forest service staff, so please take a moment to make your voice heard before April 24! One easy way to personalize your comments is to explain to the forest service what you love about the forest and what makes a quality experience for you when you visit.
