Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit IDA's Action Center. The short explanation of this alert was: The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is accepting public comment regarding their proposed Predator Damage Management in Wilderness Areas program, which targets the killing of top predators in areas protected by the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act of 1968. The proposal would allow the ruthless slaughter of these animals using methods such as poisoning, trapping, hunting from all-terrain vehicles and even aerial gunning. This would affect not only wolves, but bears coyotes, cougars, bobcats and mountain lions throughout the U.S. who encounter livestock such as cattle or sheep found grazing on Wilderness and other federally designated Wild and Scenic areas. Grazing of livestock should not be permitted on areas designated Wilderness and/ or Wild and Scenic territory. Please "Take Action" to urge the U.S. Forest Service to withdraw their Predator Damage Management in Wilderness Areas proposal. The deadline for public comments is September 7, 2006. Also please forward this alert to as many people as possible that care about wildlife and fisheries conservation and donate to IDA so that can continue our important work for animals.
