The short explanation of this alert was:

Gita, an elephant at the L.A. Zoo, died on Saturday, June 10th. Inadequate living conditions kept the 48-year-old elephant in pain for many decades, and ultimately were responsible for shortening her life. Gita's companions Ruby and Billy are also suffering from the effects of intensive, long-term captivity. Please "Take Action" to urge L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to send them to a sanctuary before they meet the same sad fate as Gita. Also tell a friend about this campaign and donate to IDA so that we can continue our important work for animals.
