The short explanation of this alert was:

The University of Colorado (CU) is holding thirty-four monkeys who were the subjects of cruel experiments - including archaic maternal deprivation studies - in the basement of a dilapidated old building that does not meet even the minimum U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) housing standards. These monkeys could be immediately transferred to a sanctuary that has already agreed to provide for their care, yet CU officials are demanding a $10,000 to $15,000 ransom for the release of each monkey.
