Dear CAN Members:
Because your membership with the California
Association of Nonprofits (CAN) provides you with dual
membership in the National Council of Nonprofits, you receive
special opportunities to have your voices heard. I write to
share one of those opportunities – an easy item but with a
quick deadline of noon on Monday, February
9.
The National Council of Nonprofits is a
partner in the Listening Post Project, which is run by Lester
Salamon of the Johns Hopkins Center on Civil Society
Studies. The Listening Post issues Soundings (quick
surveys) to learn what is happening in the field on different
topics.
This Listening Post Sounding is different,
because it involves a crucial “real-time”
opportunity to educate Congress about the various “shovel
ready” construction projects nonprofits have on hold that
could help the nation’s recovery/investment efforts by
generating both immediate jobs and long-term facilities that
could benefit communities for decades.
Unfortunately, very little information has
been assembled that could be used to alert policy-makers about
the need to make nonprofit projects eligible for stimulus
package infrastructure assistance. Through innovative thinking,
the Listening Post Project is mobilizing to fill this
gap.
We need your help – no more than
5–10 minutes – to accomplish this easy task.
Please click on the following link and fill out a simple
“click & fill” form: http://www.keysurvey.com/survey/242133/bacb/.
To be most useful, please respond by
noon on Monday, February 9, even if you have no
such projects.
Thanks. By lifting your voice at the local
level through CAN, we team up to give meaning to the tag-line of
the National Council of Nonprofits: “National Voice
* State Focus * Local Impact.”
Sincerely,
