In March, Maine's legislators approved a $295 million bond package that will be sent to Maine voters this fall. 

Thanks to the dozens of GrowSmart Maine advocates who wrote to their Legislators and the Appropriations Committee, this bond package includes $55 million for research and development funds over two years. This marks an important first step on our way to permanently financing investments in Maine's innovation economy.  

Although this year's bond package has been determined, we're still going to work to secure permanent financing for economic development through LD 1848, the Act to Promote Sustainable Prosperity.

There is still a good deal of work to be done in streamlining government costs, reducing Mainers' taxes, and funding programs that preserve our quality places as well.
